John’s helpful screencast video called “How to install WordPress themes using Quickstart package” demonstrates the creation of a new WordPress instance (new database, etc…) and the application of the demo theme to that new install. I am instead interested in applying the demo version of DW Focus to my existing blog in a staging environment (WPEngine), where I can work backwards to customize it and fine-tune it before sending it live. Is there a way to apply the demo theme to a WP instance with existing content? Thanks very much!
In case that you want to install the theme and still keep all your previous content, just use the DW FOCUS theme package. After downloading, upload the theme into your site, always make sure you activate the correct theme. However, please take note that your old site had already been configured out and not the same our theme, such as menu, widget, so that you need to take a look userguide to help you do quickly http://designwall.com/guide/dw-focus/
Thanks, Dominic. Sounds like I’ll need to create my own theme settings, etc… to make my instance like the demo. Looking forward to getting started today.
