Hi,

On our website I noticed that editing an existing, private question results in an extended title of the question in the “Title”-field. It now shows “Private: ” before the real title, so when the user submits the edited question the title of the question has changed. It seems the title of the question-page is used for the contents of the Title-field instead of just the title of the question.
Is there a way to prevent this from happening? I didn’t find a setting that influences this behaviour, nor a “question-edit-form.php” I can override.
Perhaps useful additional info: our site uses translations, and we have an overriden “question-submit-form.php”.

Any help is appreciated.

With kind regards,
Peter Janssen

I have checked on our demo.
If you edit a private question, you can remove the “private:” edit the title and the “private:”  word won’t lose in the title.
In this case, you can send me username & password of your site for further checking.

Thanks for the reply. What you describe is how it works on our site too. We ourselves classify this as a “work around”, and do not think this is “the way to work”. Especially when a question is edited multiple times, you get multiple times “Private: ” in the title of the question when you do not pay attention to the automagic change of the title.
I hoped the current way this works is a bug, but given your answer, I get the impression that it works as designed. Pity.
