How do I remove comments and google ads from the individual Questions pages?

First – love the plug in.
And now a few bugs that others have asked in a variety of ways, but not quite what I needed.

1. Each particular question page is showing up with the default comment section along with the “Answer this question” section. I can get rid of this if I go back to each question and uncheck the “allow comments” box, but I know there must be a default for this to NOT allow comments on any question.
2. I use google ads and one is showing up at the top of the page for each questions page. Not good. I have them set to play the bottom , which it does,  not at the top where they are showing up. This may have to do with the question if are these PAGES or POSTS?
