Hello.
I’ve been reading through a lot of the questions asked here in the FAQ section, but haven’t been able to find an answer on how to fix this issue with the DW Focus theme.
So, on the demo-page, there’s a news carousel placed at the bottom, which shows the thumbnails of the videos, as can be seen from this screenshot: http://i.imgur.com/HsS6N1B.png
However, when I try to do the same, no video thumbnail shows up,so instead, it looks like this: http://i.imgur.com/TLQuRGs.png
Now, how do I fix this? I’ve entered the Youtube embed code in the text field of the post, and I’ve chosen that the post is a video format, but it still doesn’t work.
Also, the problem is not limited to the carousel, as can be seen here: http://i.imgur.com/JgE7Qe8.png
So, how is this fixed?
I hope to get an answer as soon as possible.
To resolve this issue, you can log in to Dashboard > Posts > Add new, copy/paste your embed code into Text frame and select the Video Format on the right hand side, then add an image to the Feature Image on the right hand side.
Note: To display the video post as our demo, you need to use an image in the Feature Image.
Thanks for the reply, Dominic.
I was hoping there was a way for this to happen automatically, as I find it very hard to take the screenshot of the video at the exact correct time.
Is there no way to easily get the video thumbnail that Youtube uses for the video and upload it as a featured image?
Unfortunately, DW Focus doesn’t support the feature yet at the moment 🙁 So far, the best way is to select a featured image related to the content of the video. Plus, we recommend a plugin, you can take a look at here: http://wordpress.org/plugins/video-embed-thumbnail-generator/screenshots/
Thanks a lot for the plugin! It’ll definitely help make things easier 🙂
