How do I speed this theme up? It takes 9.43 seconds to load which is unacceptable.

you can use the WP Total Cache plugin

We are already using this. It helped a bit but not much at all. There is an error in the theme somewhere.

There is no way to speed this theme up except to get professional help from another developers. This theme menu is using a lot of SQL Query already itself. We are working on this like 1.5 month and still we have problems about the CPU and MySQL Optimization. 🙁

Lastly, you should really consider installing either W3 Total Cache, or WP-Super-Cache. They make your blog so much faster, that you won’t know what happened to you once you’ve got them running.
All of this makes sure your blog remains maintainable, and fast.
