I’m finishing a website here and when I go try to add the Facebook or Twitter to Home I got the following:

Okay, for the Facebook I needed to add the Page id, probally ’cause my page don’t have a name yet, ’cause of not enoght likes.
For Twitter, to get user’s twetts, I need to put: “from: UserName”.
“@” or “#” only works for mentions on the twett.

Based on what you mentioned, I think your problem is caused by your website’s loading speed or your site is cached. You can install W3 total cache plugin here to clear your browser’s cache.
If you still face the issue, you can send me username & password of your site (via private answer) for further checking.

Please double check again your Twitter information. We have tested with different Twitter accounts and all work fine.
It’s accepts users (@twitter) or only hashtags (#wordpress)?

Of course ! you can use the (@twitter) or (#wordpress) in the Twitter box. I have checked in your site with different Twitter accounts and still work fine.

Okay, now I got it;
It don’t get the user’s twetts, it get twetts where the user is mentioned.
