We are using DWQA Pro (and free version) and there are spam submissions once in a while, the user posting spam does not exist in the database. Can anything be done to prevent that?

If you are using the Pro version, you can disable the free version and use the Akismet Settings Option in the Dashboard > Questions > Settings.
