Appearance of Strange Punctuation characters in posts

Everything was working as intended with my site until this morning, when punctuation marks in all the posts went whankey. Here is an example:

The second sentence in the second paragraph is this: Let’s be honest – nothing is ea

It should read, Let’s be honest: nothing is easy

Is this a problem with the theme or its plugins?

I’ve never had this happen with WordPress.

I have already contacted my server support and they are investigating. I will also investigate in the wordpress codex.
