I’m having trouble creating a Child theme for DW Minion.
When I add the folder DW-minion-child, I add the style.css info as directed by WordPress. Here is what it looks like:
/*
Theme Name: DW Minion Child
Description: DW Minion child theme
Author: Blue
Author URI: http://gastonia.com
Template: dw-minion
Version: 1.0.0
Text Domain: dw-minion
*/
I can successfully activate this theme, but when I do, the Secondary Sidebar content disappears completely. Any thoughts why this could be happening? The style.css file is the only file I have in the child theme directory.

Thanks for your reply and additional info!
Please check the permission for the style.css file in the DW Minion Child theme.You need to make this file writable before you can save your changes. The Codex helps for reference to learn more information.
Please follow and let us know what errors if any you are getting.

Sorry Dominic I don’t think that was it. My file was writable before, and just now I made sure again, and even set the settings to 777.
Because the child theme is available, it should be working fine. It’s still a 3 column site as of what it imports from its parent. To even make doubly sure, I added 777 to both dw-minion and dw-child, still it doesn’t work.
Are you able to do a test install, create a child and it work fine?

@Dominic also, please note I’m changing this back to the parent. Feel free to change it again if you test, but I need to do more dev work. Thanks!

Please try copy the “dwqa-templates” folder then paste it into Child theme. Then let us know how that goes, my friend 🙂
