How to display colored logos when clicking on article within category

I love the colored logos, and would prefer that they show when a user clicks on any article within that category, and not only when they click on the category. Is it possible to do that?

Unfortunately, DW Focus does not support this issue.

So if I wanted to implement this feature on my own, would you suggest that I do it through a child theme, so that I can remain compatible with future DW Focus versions?
