Why does the "Sorry, but nothing matched your filter" box show up even when other questions are being displayed?

If no search results come up for a given filter, I would understand this, but even when questions are being shown (like under the “All” questions tab), this “Sorry, but nothing matched your filter” text still comes up. Any ideas?
