In the left side bar for posts (see link below), there is a SHARING header and blank lines underneath it:

Are there supposed to be social icons/links there?

I have checked your site and it still that on your site. Have you tried to install the Lazy load plugin that our theme required and recommended when you activate the theme.
If you still face there issue, you can send me username & password of your site (via private answer) for further checking.

If you want to show the social sharing menu look like our demo, you can install the DW social share plugin.
I have installed it, it does not have any option of small sharing options and text. Moreover, I cannot identify the Share area (the one that by default has the email & the print options) in the single.php file. Or should I look in other file?
