Do I have to create a htaccess rule to make the permalink work?

DominicFirstly, you can check and configure the plugin as the following solutions.
1/ Go to the Dashboard > Settings > Permalink, change the permalink to post name then click save. If you are using this option, you can click save button.
2. Check the slug page of the question list and slug in the Permalink setting of the Questions > Settings.
You should insert the slug into the question base and category base.
Note: Not use the ‘category or categories’. It’s the conflict between categories of the blog post.
3. If you still face their issue, you can send me username & password of your site for further checking.
