How to add social icons without using a plugin

Hi!

I would like to show social icons (Facebook, Twitter, Google Plus) at the bottom of every post and page without using a plugin that generally slows down the entire blog.
I’ve the icons already and tried to modify single.php but I’ve messed it up.
How could I do? Thanks.

If you want to show social icon at the bottom of every post and page, you only possible use the plugin.

Ok I finally decided to use the Jetpack sharing plugin. I still have a problem when sharing with Facebook: the metadata of the single post appear in the text area: here’s the result http://img42.com/DQUMA+ How can I avoid it? And how can I also hide all metadata (author, category, no. of comments) from pages and articles with the exception of the date of publication? Thanks.
