We’re migrating our website (built on the DW Focus theme) to a new server and URL. It is going from http://www.samuelfrench.com/breakingcharacter to http://www.breakingcharactermagazine.com. We did a test transfer and noticed the social counts don’t migrate. Is there a fix for this?

I’m afraid you won’t be able to get your shares back. Social Networks associate share counts to unique URLs, so if you change domain or permalink structure, you’ll start again from scratch.
The 301 redirect will help search engines, but most social networks don’t take these into account when calculating shares.
Here is a quick example: https://google.com/ redirects to https://www.google.com/ (that’s a 302 redirect).
Also, Twitter are ending support for retrieving share counts, which is the underlying cause of this error. They said they’d remove their special share count URLs in October, but it looks like they’ve taken the API endpoints down a little early!
