We recently purchased DW Question & Answer Pro for use on http://www.deedclaim.com. The plugin was installed successfully and worked fine for a few days. The two main pages where the plugin appears and https://www.deedclaim.com/questions/ and https://www.deedclaim.com/dwqa-ask-question/.  We are now having a number of problems, which appeared out of the blue:

  • We are now no longer able to switch into visual editor mode or use the TinyMCE editor.
  • The main questions page (https://www.deedclaim.com/questions/) opens with a “Read More” button and pagination instead of simply displaying the page. This is intermittent and we haven’t been able to reproduce consistently.
  • Even recent questions show that they are several hours old (issue with the time).
  • When logged out of WordPress, the page doesn’t provide any options for comments, follow-up questions, etc. All that the users can see is the original question and the answer, with no additional functionality. Our goal is to allow users to add comments and encourage discussion.

Please let me know what is causing these issues. It seems awfully buggy for a premium plugin and a fresh install. If it matters, we are running the Centric Pro Child Theme on the Genesis Framework.

Please accept my apology for the delay in getting back to you.
1. we have checked on our demo and it works fine, please disable all the plugin to check this issue, I think it’s the conflict between the plugins.

2. I have checked on your site and see that it works fine. I think you have resolved this issue. If you still face their issue, you can send me some screenshot for further checking.

3. About the time issue, you can send me username & password of your site for further checking.
4. Please check the permission option in the settings of the plugin from the back-end. If you still face their issue, please send me username & password of your site for further checking.

Thank you for the response. How do I send you my username and password to check the time issue? I assume that you are not suggesting that I post my credentials on a public form.

You can use the private answer option under the answer box.

I have checked your site:
About the time issue,  you can check and change the timezone from the Dashboard > Settings > General.
Also, I have created a new question and the comment section still there.

I know how to check my timezone. There is no problem with my timezone. It is correctly set to Chicago. All of my posts show up with the correct timezone. The only time that is incorrect is the time used when people ask or answer questions with this plugin.

Yes, I’m checking your issue, I will help you resolve it as soon as possible.

It has been six days, and I am still waiting on a response about the time issue. New questions appear as though they are six hours old immediately after the question is asked. I really need this fixed, because it makes it look like we are slow to respond when in fact we are responding very quickly. Again, this is not an issue with my WordPress settings, because they are in the correct time zone.

Also, I noticed that this question was marked as “Answered.” It has not been answered correctly and should be left as an open question.

Please accept my apology for the delay in getting back to you. At the moment, the plugin gets the time from local of hosting.  In this case, we need check your hosting to fix this issue.

I have spoken to my hosting company, and they verified that the server time is set correctly. I have also verified independently from the WordPress dashboard (using the WP-Serverinfo plugin). So my server time is correct and my WordPress time is correct. The problem seems to be with the DW Q&A Pro plugin.

We have fixed this issue, please check your site now.

Okay, I just checked and it appears to be fixed. What was the problem and how did you fix it?

Dominic Staff

We have fixed some code in the plugin to compatible with your local time.

So this is a custom fix for my site, right? I am asking because I want to know the implications if I uninstall or reinstall the plugin, or if you publish an update and I apply it. Would this break the fix?

Still seeing an issue with the timing. When I look at an individual question/post (for example, https://www.deedclaim.com/question/multiple-owners-of-florida-home-can-all-be-included-in-a-lady-bird-deed/), the timing is correct. But when I look at the time on the list of questions (https://www.deedclaim.com/questions/), the timing is still behind by 6 hours. So it looks like the timing was fixed on the individual question/post page, but not on the overall question list.

we have checked your site and see that it works fine. We have edited code in the 3 files:
dw-question-answer/templates/

content-question.php
content-single-question.php
content-single-answer.php

I think it’s cache, please clear cache on your site.

In response to another question, you stated “you’re using the old version of DW Q&A pro (1.0.0), and that version is not compatible with Genesis framework. We have made it compatible with the Genesis framework in the recent updates, so please update the plugin to the latest version : 1.0.7.”

Question: If I update to this new release, will it overwrite the custom fixes that you made to content-question.php, content-single-question.php, and content-single-answer.php?

Also, I just bought the plugin a few weeks ago from Code Canyon. Why is it already several releases behind? And why didn’t I get notified of a new release in the WordPress dashboard?

Just a friendly reminder that I’m waiting on a response to this question. I want to update to the latest version, but don’t want to overwrite the changes that you made to the three files you mentioned.

Firstly update the plugin, you can copy the old theme to backup folder then update the plugin. After updating, you can compare the code in 3 files between 2 plugin(old & new) then copy the code to the file of the new version. If you have any issue, please let me know, I will check and help you resolve it.
