On http://www.fivetwo.com/ we are using the DW Focus: Popular News: Trending widget (down the right-hand side, titled “Trending”). The first article in the list has not changed in well over a month. Google analytics show that page has less than 10 hits where the next article on the list shows near 40. Obviously, the “All Network Broadcast with Chris Kopka and Clint Jenkin” post isn’t as popular as it once was (which is OK), yet it still shows as the most popular article on our site. It shouldn’t be!
How do I get this article unstuck?
I realize that I can delete the article, and create it new again (back posted). I would HOPE that would fix it. However, I don’t want to have to do that this time (or anytime one of our peeps says – “Hey that article has been featured a LONG time!”). I’m hoping that if there’s a bug in the algorithm, then it can be fixed.
Thank you!
Only DW Popular New widget of DW Focus presents the posts which have the most views. Regarding your request, please find other plugins here:https://wordpress.org/plugins/search.php?q=Popular+
Hope this helps !
Just to understand… trending = most # views. Does it count views by admin and page/post authors logged in making edits?Thank you for the link to other widgets. I might try one of those out.
Hi,
Number of views will be count when any users or admin view those posts.
Thanks for your feedback and we will discuss about the popular widget in the upcoming version of the theme.
Thank you. Based on this, I can see that this one article was stuck because it was one of the first articles and underwent a LOT of views during testing. The plug-in is nice, but it doesn’t match the design of the site easily. I’ll keep that handy though for other solutions. :)My solution to this particular problem was to simply delete and re-add the post. Not ideal, but it worked. Now all the popular / trending posts are ACTUALLY popular. Thank again for your responsiveness to questions/problems!
