I would like to configure DW Page to have a carousel slide at the top of the page.

I would also like to have links that go to sections on the page that have different names rather than the bundled sections.

Can I get the page to go to different sections by change the custom link class

As opposed to Introducing I want the section to be About or #about.

@Nathaniel Quinn: after you install the theme and all the recommended plugin , you can read the guide here to set up a landing page to be a hompe : https://www.designwall.com/guide/dw-page/set-up-homepage/

You can use the page builder to do that.
For a carousel slide at the top of the page : you can use the SiteOrigin slider widget
To set up the menu you can refer here : https://www.designwall.com/guide/dw-page/custom-menu-for-onepage/
And you can also create the a custom link to navigate to other page.
If you have problem with using our theme, you can request for direct support and custom on your site. Thanks.
