Hi, Which backup plugin you can advise me, with DW Focus (quick start) ?I had a bad night to restart the installation and all setup (because an admin has updated WP to 4.0!). I had “wpbackup” but it did’nt work at all.Fortunately that was the beginning. There were not many posts. I would install a backup plugin tested and working with your theme an its specific WP. Thank you very much 🙂
Hi,
That’s not easy to recommend a perfect plugin for you. The best way is to manually make the backup as follows:
Backup the theme folder.
– To do this, log into your FTP via FileZilla and download all the folders/files, then save them in the WordPress installation folder placed in your computer. See the screenshot http://prntscr.com/5367a0
– Or you can do as the following method, just go to File Manager of cPanel: http://prntscr.com/5367fb
+ Then go to the folder that you installed the WordPress themes, click on ” Select All”.
+ Select ” Compress” at the top to zip all folders and files, then save them as a .zip file. Make sure that the compressed file is a .zip file.
+ Select the format to zip and rename the file.
+ Finally, you have a .zip file contained all the theme files/folders and save, protect it carefully.
Note: How to restore.
In case that you need to restore, just delete all folders/files on your host, then upload the .zip file that you have just downloaded and right-click to select Extract.
Thank you very much 🙂 I'll see that. So, a manual backup is better. OK.
I have also a question about the update WP. Our website is built with your quickstart. The WP updates improve the WP and fixe security vulnerabilities. If I can't update my WP (because the update overwrites the quickstart WP) how I can enjoy the benefits from these improvements ?Could you please, advise me ?
Thanks thanks thanks 🙂
The best way is to overwrite the theme folder via your FTP. If you don’t want to lose all changes that you customized, before updating the latest version, please mark and copy all files that you edited, then update to the version 1.0.9.After finishing, you add all customized code to your theme.Note: you can find here for the document guide on how to upgrade the theme: http://premium.wpmudev.org/blog/how-to-upgrade-a-wordpress-theme-even-if-its-customized/
