Next page of blog post

Hi,
Currently I have the Reading settings in wordpress set to ‘Your latest posts’. However this means the carousel slider displays as small. I can get around this by changing the reading settings to show a home layout 2 page as the homepage. This makes the homepage look fine but then when i click the ‘next page’ link at the foot of the page it then goes to ‘http://x.com/page/2/ which is a replica as the homepage. Can you help me here please?
