Show Partial/Excerpt Text For Already Existing Posts

Hi, first of all I want to say thanks for a fantastic theme. WallPress is exactly what I was looking for a while.
I have a technical issue. I am reviving an old site for a friend. And he has never used "More" button in content window. He has never used the excerpts option either. Now, all his posts come in large text columns which doesnt work well. We want to show a certain number of words/characters before the next box. How can that be achieved?
I read couple of posts here regarding the same. However, the suggest is to use "More" option to create an excerpt for new articles. However, how can we do the same for old articles.
This is exactly what we want. But that will mean to edit 100s of old articles. Any suggestions.

Hello Toodwall !
To add “Read more” button for the older Article in the DW Wallpress, You can use the Easy Custom Auto Excerpt plugin. Please find the plugin here: http://wordpress.org/plugins/easy-custom-auto-excerpt/screenshots/
