Trying to customize as per DW Fixel example

Hi, I love the DW Fixel theme but it appears that it is not as customizable as it seems.  We can not achieve some of the things that appear on the example page.  HELP!

1. As you can see, the fourth box on the top does not have an image. We tried to add an image gallery as in your example post called “LIKE THESE SWEET MORNINGS”.  Can you give us some direction on how to add gallery post that scrolls on the homepage as in your example.
2. Also, how do you create a post such as the “HI. IM JOHN DOE…” post on your example site?  That post does not link anywhere, but is a welcome message.
3. Related to point 2, if you see our site, there are social media posts. We would like them to click directly to the social media site instead of going into the post for the click to the site.  Is that possible?
