Gareth Wrighthi guys I’m looking to upgrade our DW focus theme, manly due to a blog paging issue (previous next, 1,2,3 ) for older blog posts that seemed to creep in at latest wordpress update.
So did the natural thing and went and grabbed the latest theme, now 1.3.2.
Our theme is heavily customized with html block and css, functions and more so I knew I’d have to install then compare the files and re introduce our customisations.
However the jump from 1.0.9 to 1.3.2 looks huge! widgets disappeared and homepage widgets we had no longer seem to be available to configure on homepage, the core css looks very different so grid isn’t working and the site is a lot wider.
Whats best next step guys? is there a better upgrade inbetween that will be lower hanging fruit to upgrade to that keeps a lot of the widgets, css grid and such? when where the big changes made on the versions?
to be honest if I can fix the paganation issue on the blogs page I’m happy to stay put.
Looking at the upgrade route whats your recommendation please?
DominicFirstly, we have customized the focus in the latest version 1.3.2. we have changed the style and layout and edited the widget. All the widget in the 1.0.9 will be lost after updating the latest version. So, you need to configure the widget when you update and activate the new theme.
About your customize, only can compare the files and copy your custom through the new theme. I know it’s very hard to update and configure the theme.
