Over the past two weeks, we are grateful enough to receive lots of thumbs-up for the anonymous feature in the last WordPress Q&A plugin DW Question & Answer version 1.2.6. Not intending to sleep on victory, we are now excited to come back with way cooler features in this 1.2.8 version.
In this version of the plugin, we now support custom user roles from third party plugins, change the way to order questions on the question list page. We also maintain routine bug fixes and add two more new languages. Scroll down for more details and again it’s time to upgrade your Q&A system.

More user roles supported
We know that WordPress has 6 user roles by default, but some third party plugins or themes could have their own user roles besides the default ones. In older versions of the plugin, we only supported the default user roles of WordPress, which means if your site used WooCommerce plugin and had custom user roles, for example Shop Vendor, those users would not be able to use our Q&A system. That was an issue and we have been receiving quite a lot questions asking about it. We totally understand the issue, so in this 1.2.8 version of the plugin, we officially support custom user roles from other 3rd party plugins and themes.
The plugin will detect custom user roles on your site and add them into the Permission setting where you can set permissions for them in the same way as you do with default user roles.
As you can see from above demonstration screenshots, custom user roles from WooCommerce (Shop Manager, Shop Accountant, Shop Worker, Shop Vendor, Participant and Moderator) are added and now those users can totally post/edit or delete questions, answers, or comments on your Q&A system. Custom user roles from other plugins and themes will work the same.
Order questions by latest answer
In older DW Question & Answer versions, questions in the question list page was arranged according to their submission time. However, we have changed this way of arrangement and decided to order questions by their answer submission time. This means questions with latest answer will come up on top. By this way, active questions with recent posted answers will stay on top and show up on the first page. Also you can easily tell hotly debated topics at a glance.
New languages added
Thanks to Alberto Lusoli and Karel Baláč‘s contribution, DW Question & Answer is now available in Italian and Czech, which makes up to 16 supported languages in total. Thanks for the updates to the plugin. When I try to post an answer during testing, the input field is ‘read-only’. Why is that?

Maybe it has something to do with Permission setting of the plugin on your site? We have tested this function carefully and we did not meet such issue. If everything looks fine and you still meet the problem, please raise us a question to our support page. Our staff will help out.
