Namaste everyone!

My name is Karan Chopra from New Delhi, India. I’m working as the CEO at G2One Network, an Internet Media Company specializing in advertising, content marketing and social media. I’m also the founder at 99DollarWebsite and editor/writer at I2Mag, JustWP.org, CodeAndMe.net, JustInfo.Graphics, HowToWebDesign.org, NextBigProduct , WPLove, GamingHQ, 99Books, HundredCoupons.

This blog post by Karan Chopra is a part of our WordPress Customer Spotlight section, where DesignWall users come and share their beautiful projects as well as their valuable development experience.

I got my bachelor in computer engineering at the University of Mumbai and Aston University, the UK in 2009 and 2010. Besides technology, the entrepreneurial experience is another skill I want to develop and G2One Network has become my biggest business plan over the past 4 years.

I also love volunteering a lot and used to work for the British Red Cross organization.

About Howtowebdesign.org project

Much of a web junkie as I am, I have always wanted to build a website that focuses on delivering useful knowledge on web design, content management systems, domain, hosting, etc. That is why How to web design was born as one resource site coming from the house of G2One Network.

Why I end up with DW Minion theme

Finding a great-yet-free WordPress theme is quite tough, especially when you have little time browsing through hundreds of different themes. To be honest, I tried to do just that yet none of the themes come up to my expectation. Not until I happened to spot DW Minion. It surprisingly covers all the substance I am looking for in a responsive WordPress blog theme.

My project – How to web design is all about web-related news, reviews, roundups, tutorials and does not necessarily require a too fancy design that may slow down the whole site. A simple and clean layout will do. And I’m quite pleased with how DesignWall team handles DW Minion’s minimal style without compromising on the content. Five supported post formats including text, image gallery, video, link, and quote are all enough to further adorn my blog’s look and feel.

The making of Howtowebdesign.org

If it took me days to hit on an appropriate WordPress blog theme, six hours were all it took for me to wrap up my site development with DW Minion theme. Yes, six hours flat. I guess the theme’s easy-to-customize trait accounts much to this warp speed. Frankly, I’m not totally content with the theme here and there. But with some minor changes, I was able to tweak it the way I want so that the theme suits my site better. The easy Customize Panel lets me modify everything in the theme appearance from the background, color to the logo, font and so forth. I did also refer to the DW Minion documentation guide to make sure I never get lost.

Secondly, the development process didn’t take long as I know exactly what requires on my site. Before embarking on building the site, I put much time first on researching all the required ingredients, adding in a bit of imagination then assemble everything together. That way, I can visualize beforehand how my site would look like and who my target audience would be. As in HowToWebDesign.org, I want to deliver a simple layout with content targeted to those who love web design and who are looking for ways to improve their related skills.

Finally, my only suggestion for you guys is to plan everything out at the initial stage as it will not only ease your job but also save you a lot of time.
